i have this idea of creating a forum basically for young people with trending / controversial topics ranging from entertainment to lifestyle to politics etc , i feel good about it and i believe it would pull lots of traffic however i plan on promoting it through facebook target ads and then as others come in they would invite their friends and then i would convert the traffic to profit . Now my question is this . Which is the most affordable and effective way of promoting something like this on , is it either facebook CPC or CPM ad option ?

He makes a good point. People are not going to want to participate on a forum if it is not active. Therefore you may want to consider hiring a few individuals to contribute to the forum. Make it lively.

    good luck, man.

Rather than that sort of advertising I've had a bit of success going down another route. This may or may not work for you

I have a blog in my niche which does very well traffic wise, and is seen as something of an authority (as far as blogs in my niche are able to be seen to be) - I say this as it may have an impact on how you are reacted to if you don't have this, I haven't tried it n niches I am not an authority in.

Basically I reached out to other bloggers in the niche and offered to do a post/series of posts for them in return for a bit of pimping (in post) for my forum. This got a number of sign ups pretty quickly... which coupled with my own blog and newsletter allowed for a quick amount of new users. Now I only reached out to 4 or 5 bloggers - if you were to reach out to many bloggers in your market even small ones could well prove useful.

Maybe that is something worth exploring?
