Promoting a dating website?

Hello experts!

I'm looking for some promotion advice in regards to marketing a dating website. Frankly, I'm an idiot as far as promotion and I know many of you here have great experience in this area. I have read through many threads here about keywords, etc., however I still need that last missing link.

The site is targeted at a regional demographic. Additionally, the site has been up 'live' for about 2 months and has about 100 signed up users. These users mainly came from other online social communities like Myspace. I have used this resource to get a base usergroup together to get the community active.

The area that is missing is visitors from search engines etc. How do I determine the best keywords for the site? It has already been indexed in Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc., however I don't get many visitors from the SE's which I am relating to not having good keywords for the site.

Has anyone else here run such a site before? What was successful for you in regards to promotion?

I would suggest to get SEO of your site and broader your target frame.

 

try affiliate marketing. or if you can't afford that yet, advertising on blogs.

 

What's the best way to determine what keywords are the best for an Adwords campaign? People reference keyword sites, however no specific urls.

 

Try exchanging links with other dating or similar sites. It provides steady traffic and it's free...

Try using www.adbrite.com, and advertise on other sites that are similar.

1. use dp's wordtracker tool - keyword suggestion

type in dating than refine

2. Use the actually used key phrases to generate content around it and link to the content by using the key phrase - articles - blog - whatever

3. Check if existing pages can cater for some of the key phrases.

4. Get links to the content

5. Write / or have written press releases etc

I just stumbled onto this thread and I was wondering if you had sucess in promoting your site. I am just starting out with a dating site and added much more and I have already read some of the post but wanted to know if you had success.

I am having trouble getting my first member/s, any suggestions. Right now everything is free on my site and my only revenue will come from adsense and affilate links, so if I spend money on advertising it will be low budget.

Any help will be appreciated.

MySpace.. I think there are groups on MySpace for single people and things. Or posting quality bulletins will get people.

 

The one problem with my space is that no one can tell me for sure if I can promote my site there and how. Everything I read says it is not allowed.

I would suggest staying within the rules of MySpace. If you violate their rules or anyone elses all that will happen is that they will close your account and you will have wasted your time and energy.
