HI guys, I am running a contest for my blog and was hoping for some help. Because the contest is only for a month i realised i need short term marketing results and was wondering the best ways to go about it. My budget is small(ish) but my plan so far is to - add the contest to my signature in the forums I participate in - advertise the contest in this forum and others. - Im thinking of getting other blogs to promote the contest and in return provide a link as a contest sponser on my contest page. Anyone have any other good ideas. I need quick and short term successful marketing techniques. Thanks for your help.

Search for contest blogs on Google and e-mail them about your contest. I got about 25 posts about it that way.
Contacting other blogs to promote your contest is imho the best choice you have. Probably join some new forums and make a thread there too. P.S I post contests on my blog too, if you are interested i can promote your contest for 0 fee.
There are a few blogs that only post about contests on other blogs. http://www.contestblogger.com/ Contest Blogger is one of them. Go to their sites and see what you have to do in order to submit your contest information to them. Then they will make a post about your contest.
You can try going to diggs and shout it to your friends! You can also comment on your favorite blogs and mention about your contest!
contact various contest blogs and ask them to write about your contest. They will willingly do that as this is their job. and the most important thing is the prizes..they shud really be attractive. If they aren't that attractive then shud make the participation conditions to be very easy..like leaving a comment. Even though this won't bring any big benefits for you. See..if you have some good prizes to give away then your contest will gain publicity by itself.. Wow, thank you all for your input thier are some great ideas there. I will definately check out these contest blogs and will compile a list of blogs to ask if they wish to promote my contest. I will put this into action on the weekend and see how I go. Thanks again guys it is very much appreciated
