If you know of a program that does not run on Microsoft's Vista post it. Let others know and maybe somebody knows a work around it.

If certain programs don't work, try running them in compatibility mode or run them as an administrator.

Out of all my programs, only one didn't work all the way- and that was a complex audio capture program. (Vista makes it lag in compatibility mode)

Have you tried updating your drivers? Try going to the adobe or nero website. I know for a fact that adobe has a fix for and Vista related problems.

I'm not sure about Nero, but try looking the error up. There is always a fix.

I find it funny that Microsoft spend 5 years on there new OS and they still can't get it right. It's seems it always falls on the consumer to find a way to make windows work.

Actually, I think they have done a good job.

I don't see a long list of programs being posted that don't work with Vista. And the two that were posted just need to be updated or need drivers to be installed.

Stop being ignorant. At least give some facts to back up your claims. I'm so sick of this endless bashing without any actual proof. I'm not saying Vista is perfect, but I'd appreciate it if people didn't blindly put out claims.

But if a programe doesn't work in VISTA can't you right click and choose to run as XP?

Plus, I've got a laptop running nero on Vista home premium. (Nero StartSmart Package)

I'll tell you one that is crap on Vista, because it's crap on XP.
The whole MS Office line. It's a processor hog, and the resources that it takes to run Outlook is a joke.
    But that's just my opinion.

I really don't quite understand what people want computers and software manufacturers to do anymore...

Should we stop making better operating systems and just make operating systems go backwards... This way, we can use all our programmes which wouldn't be compatible with improved software, because the programmes were dodgy in the first place, also we could stop buying better computers and buy worse ones... Either that or just go right back to the 70's and just get out typewriters!:p

Oh well, I like Vista at least!

I find it surprising that MS is getting heat for Vista's compatibility. You have to realize that MS can't code support for all the Windows programs. We are lucky they didn't screw us over like Apple did from OS9-10.

Vista was the smoothest OS upgrade I've ever done. I was especially surprised that it came with all the drivers I needed. Also I have yet to run into anything that compatibility mode can't fix.
