I have been searching a whole month for the answer to this question. The mouse wheel not only turns, it pushes down to form an additional button on the mouse. If you push the mouse button down on this web page, you can navigate up and down the page just like using the mouse wheel or side bar. Question? How does one program that mouse wheel and wheel button? What programming language? Where do I get specific instructions to program the mouse wheel and wheel button? Thanks for any advice.
on a normal 10 pound mouse i dont think you can. but if you have an advanced mouse like a logitech razor they bring programs that allow you to edit each button.
I am using a standard mouse manufactured by Dell. When I am on the internet and roll the wheel or push the wheel down on my mouse, the web page scrolls. Isn't this kind of mouse handling programed into the web site using HTML, JavaScript, Flash's ActionScript etc.? I know ActionScript has methods used to program what the mouse buttons and mouse wheel will do. JavaScript has scripts for drag and drop.
Well, I'm assuming you mean to program it for use on a web page, given where you are asking the question. http://adomas.org/javascript-mouse-wheel/ Covers the basics.
Thanks Deathshadow, this should be helpful. Your the first person who could provide a source for code about this apparently unusual question.
Funny, my mouse has a scroll wheel which works only on the linux machines at home and my laptop, but doesn't do a damn thing on the Windblows machine at work (after upgrading to IE7 for testing purposes). Probably some setting on it I've never looked at.
Are you using a wireless mouse? or a mouse without a ball? Are you using Windows XP. ? Have tried downloading Firefox web browser, use it instead IE and see if the problem goes away. Try using a different mouse. I use Windows XP. In control panels> mouse> Wheel tab (the following no. of lines is 3) The hardware tab has a troubleshooting and properties button. The properties button> drivers tab has an update drivers button. I'm at the end of my knowledge, I don't know if updating your drivers would help. I looked in my IE browser internet options. I could not find any mouse settings.
