Can online poker sites be rigged? I play but only in the .10, 1.00, 2.00 and 3.00 dollar holdem turnys. But I came in third in a 3 dollar holdem turny and made a few hundred dollars. So I played in a 20 dollar buy in turny.
( Im asking this because. ) while playing in this 20 dollar texas holdem turny I was up 15,000 in chips in the 1st hour. I was delt Aces paired so I called the big blind a guy raised me 2000 he only had 7000 chips so I went all in he called everyone else folded. When our cards showed before the flop I had the ace pair he had a 5 and a 2 off suit. The flop was 5 A 2 then 2 then a k. he won a total of 14,000 in chips. I was knocked back to 8000 chips. I could not believe he called my all in and won with 5, 2 so I wrote his name and hand played details down. About 2 hours later I found myself at the same table with this guy he had 155,200 in chips when I saw this happen.

A guy bets 20,000 after the 1st two card deal, this guy raised 20,000 the other guy goes all in with 120,400 in chips the guy that beat me with 5,2 calls. The cards are hole cards are then flipped and this guy has 5, 2 against the all in guys pair of aces. You just dont call a 120,400 all in with 52. But the flop was same as before. 5 A 2 then 2 then a k.

How hard would it be to program a user name to catch certain cards on a flop when certain cards held in hand? Thats my question.

Not hard at all. From a programming standpoint, it's easy.

However, last time I played online and checked out some sites, most were audited by proper accountancy firms. I wouldn't think they;d screw around running the risk of getting a very bad name, especially now some of these sites are worth (and making) millions and millions.

But I wouldn't be surprised at all if some of the small time casinos are dodgy.

Some of the small time casinos are very dodgy, when I used to have casino based affiliate sites I had agroup of friends signup using my affiliate id and some of them never showed in my account. Stick to the biggest places and stay away from smaller ones you have never heard about.

Thanks for responce I,m not a Programer or even a want to be Programer. But I do enjoy a low stacks game of holdem while working on a website.

I find the two work well together because with holdem you fold more than you play so I can be getting thing done while playing @ the same time.

and yes I'm signed up with a very well known poker site now but i'll stick with the low stakes games they seem easy to do well in.

    Thanks again.

And in all fairness, statistically your two occurances aren't that amazing. Some people just get lucky some days...

Online tournaments would be sooo easy to win - if you had 4 or 5 friends in different houses playing at the same table and if each one knew the other's hand your odds of winning go up dramatically - since the odds of your hand winning go up or down depending on the cards in play.

Sounds like he's been running some algo-guessing software. This is an old paper but it shows the general process.

Exactly. It's kind of pathetic how many times you hear people whining "I had AK and the guy won with QJ!!!! How did he cheat?"

I have lost with pocket aces many times, but the majority of times I win. You have odds, not guarentees. Yes, you may have a 95% chance of winning and that means just that, you may still lose 5% of the time.

As long as you play strong solid poker you will be a long-term winner. If you win based on long you will be a short-term winner.

THis is no different then a real game. I play regular tournaments and charity tournaments. THe charity ones drive me crazy sometimes because people play the worst hands, not because they are bluffing but because they don't understand the game. They play 99% of their hands and although in the long run they will lose, they win the wackiest hands.

A lot of people playing online are still learning the game and might just be doing "whatever". It drives people crazy but its a part of the game when anyone can buy in.

I seriously doubt you were cheated.

    1) Programming wise, yes they can
    2) The guy beat you twice in a few hands. This is not enough for a statistical analysis. So unless he found a loophole that he only used on those hands, I would say he got lucky.

I can personally say that I have lost many hands with pocket A's in the past.

Yes of course it can be rigged, but the question is how long can one get away with it. They seem to be patching alot of the holes in the software these days.
