i am astonished to know CSS is a programming language .Well let me say something about CSS-Its is used for designing purpose of the web pages only and not for coding the apps-plugins or making components .Its not like php and java etc where we need to code but is used to make web pages attractive.again visit w3schools for CSS basics.

    i have seen this
    http://www.facebook.com/login.php

amazing to know the mostly used community's language is still unknown in this world. This is complete coded in php only ok.and i think you need to brush up certain things before writing ike what is programming language? What is CSS etc.CSS is NOT a programming language but can you have enough proof the facebook is coded in CSS ? while those who knows CSS dont say like what you said. You need to visit w3schools at once to know moere about javascript also .You need it .And for those who says facebook is completely coded in CSS,javascript is server side language etc ,need an immediate learning @w3schools.com and i am emphasizing because i know what i am saying .Although my query was a good programming language for web development and i shall go with php or python and i know both are PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES .

Oh he's confused. C++ means a lot of Cs so a lot of Cs means CSS or, if you prefer, Css. See what I mean? That's why CSS is a great programming language. Except for Jave. And PHP. PHP is the best programming language. Unless you use CSS but that's a lot of Cs.

I don't know why they say that's a lot of Cs when there's on one C in Css.

I would only use JQuery, not Javascript. JQuery is the best programming language for everything. Javascript is only used for porn sites. AJAX is only used with Flash, not Javascript. Never use Javascript for anything. Just jquery.

As your question is related to web applications you might want to consider ruby on rails which is a web application framework.

As often suggested although maybe there are exceptions but there usually isn't a best programming language choice and is maybe something that people shouldn't obsess over, even some of the biggies out there have switched some time later.

As a non developer i was choosing php for my idea but now switched to ruby on rails (when im ready to have it developed) as for the approach that i will use it makes sense.

Well i totally agree with this point that it totally depends on you in which language you feel more comfortable.I have worked on both languages and quite comfortable with both of them.
