Hello you all, I have been reading quite a lot of posts in this programming forum to try to learn and understand which is the best programming language for web applications. My interest is not from the programming point (I am not a programmer) but from the site owner who wants to have a web page very well programmed. The conclusion I get from reading many posts (which also makes a lot of sense) is that the best programme depends on the kind of application to be programmed. Well, what I need to get programmed is a 40-50 web page x 4 languages, which needs to be very, very SEO friendly. It will be a e-commerce site and I would like it to have all the following features: - Shopping cart - Helpdesk with email piping - Billing information feature - Order status - Secure Payment (e-commerce) - E-mail confirmation (e mail confirmation to sender after an order is placed) Although I would like to get it programmed by someone I would like to hear your opinions on which would be the best language & way to programme it since I would not want to get this decided just by the one programmer who finally does it. I would like to have an idea before I start speaking to programmers about it. What kind of application would you suggest (PHP, ASP, CSS, etc) especially for it to be very SE frindly and also good for e-commerce? Any thoughts?
PHP/MYSQL/CSS The SEO is done at the end , when the core is built . SEO dont depend on the programming language since SE cant know what kind of programming you are using . since you can easily fake extension make a xxx.php to xxx.aspx Better to use php/mysql since its free and Linux servers are better than Windows server for web issues and its the most used in the industry .
Commandos, Thank you for the clarity and straight forward response. I understand you propose to programme in in PHP with Mysql tables and under a CSS structure, basically for reliability reasons.
Hello midi, As commandos already said you can do SEO at the end. On my opinion the best solution for you will be to use a commercial software with source codes. Because your requirement doesn't seem unique and no need to code from scratch. For example, you can build your ecommerce web site based on two products Kayako Help Desk and Avactis Shopping Cart. Kayako help desk will handle all your helpdesk requirements. Avactis Shopping Cart will handle the rest. - Shopping cart - Billing information feature - Order status - Secure Payment (e-commerce) - E-mail confirmation (e mail confirmation to sender after an order is placed Both companies provide their source codes and you can customize their visual designs to fit your web site design. If you start the development from scratch it will take you many months and a lot of money. The solutions I mentioned are very powerful and meet most of your requirements. And they have tools for the data backups, access restrictions etc. Using ready made solutions you will save a lot of money and time.
