I don't know very much if anything about HTML. So I need a free website builder that is easy to use. Just an info site no shopping carts or anything fancy. What are your suggestions?

Most big web hosts offer a WYSIWYG ( what you see is what you get) editor.

They are very easy to use and its just like using microsoft word or something similar.

I would also recomend just trying to learn a little html. even just the basics will help you a great deal even if its just for placing adsense ads.

Good luck with your first site and hope everything goes well

pay a professional to make your site for you. It is money well spent. DO NOT hire your sisters boyfriend, cousin, friend of a friend.

Good advice, Stuw. A friend of mine like WysiwygPro. I have never seen it.

I may be wrong, but you may want to check out "drupal" (www.drupal.org) .
It may get you started in the right place?

    Hi,
Don't use a WYSWYG because most add codes in between which makes the page heavy and very difficult to edit later .
I am not very sure but the same goes for "frontpage". I have not used it myself.
I have a very very basic html tutorial for starters at
    http://www.farishtaey.com/htmlhelp.html

That is very very basic but will get you started .And there is a online code generater that will make the code for you .
Example click the "bold" button . You will be asked to enter some text . Type something and the code to bold the text will show up in the source box below .
Click the preview button to see what you did .
That page is not linked from other pages of my website .In case you want to return , then bookmark it .

    For windows based editors :
You can use notepad to make a html page . Seeing what you made with notepad is a mess . To get that option download another one at my website . There is a preview button . Type html and click to launch in browser . By default you can see in internet explorer . But if you have mozilla installed or netscape , there is a"different browser" option also .
Plus you can make a really long page and still edit it . In notepad you will get an error message .
I think I recently removed the sitemap feature from the free version . Not sure please check .
You can still convert a URL to a link . Bold italic , underline etc. are also available in the free version . The free one is just an alternative to notepad adding a few easier options .

This is the baby boy of Easy html editor SSS12

Best wishes for your website .
    Regards

Well if you are just getting started in web development and can see yourself building more sites in future then I would say invest a bit of cash and get yourself a copy of Macromedia Studio.

On the other hand, if youre planning to have this as a one off site then you could also look into online website builders. Providers like this(site2you.com) can get you up and running with a nice site in no time at all and at a fraction of the cost of purchasing software.

There are many free development tools available online, just do a bit of a google search

    www.nVu.com

If you MUST use a WYSIWYG editor, use one that produces somewhat decent markup (unlike the likes of F-Page, GoDead and Nightmareweaver). nVu is a free download.

Thanks for all the advice. I do have a little bit of HTML knowledge, not much. I have downloaded a program by blue voda. So far it seems really easy for me to use. I have already added my adsense program to it and it works! I still have a lot of content, pages and functionality to put into it, but looks easy enough so far.

Thanks guys this forum is the best place for sound advice!

I'd recommend just taking a little time and learn html. It looked crazy hard to me at first but it's really not. A few of these < and /> those is all it really is. The place I learned alot was http://www.w3schools.com/, or you could check out some of the places other's have posted. Just take a little time to learn some, it's actually fun.:)
