Are profile page backlinks from high PR sites Useful or not????

I was using them a few months ago and they were very useful. I have started using them again recently and they don't seem to have the same 'power' as before though, but this is just initial feeling, I am continuing to see if this plays out over a bit more time.

For the most part I am finding article directories from the 'big directories; such as EZA, Squidoo, Hubpages and the like more useful

yes, it's helps if they provides do follow backlinks to your website. make sure websites that you are choosing are do follow.

 

Yes they are useful , why would you think they are not specially if they are do follow links?

 

Any link can help thst's my philosophy ...

 

Yes they help; you can see big companies linking their social community profiles (Facebook, Twitter) from their own sites (PR7-8-9) dofollow.
However they keep their social media profile to be present in the given social media and not to represent them on the whole web... so IMO you should do a same.
Why do not you link to your own website?
If you do not have any yet better create a blog on blogger or wordpress; that way the link juice and PR would be transmitted much efficiently I think.

 

if you can provide a big number, at least 500, they can really get you an edge on your competition
