He has written a lot of approved content on AC. I know that AC apply a strict approval criteria, so therefore his writing has some merit. Having read some of those articles, I must say I was impressed. In fact, a few of those articles were so expertly written that I don't know if it would be written any better by someone charging 7/8 times his price. Yes, AC has a some content that is quite poorly written taht, you can tell English wasn't the first language of the wirter/s, but on the whole, AC has some fantastic content.

It's not that strict in the slightest. They just pay less for it... as long as it's unique and not an overdone topic, and ridiculously poor English, they'll throw a few bucks your way for the opportunity to make more off of it. Not knocking them... it's their business model and works for them, and it's more than most content sites do. But saying their criteria is enough to make it an adequate portfolio is way off.

I read some samples too, and they could definitely be written better by a professional... especially in a Web content sense. Not a single one I read was "written for the Web"; something a professional content writer would know how to do, and a client should certainly know and care about. I'm not saying he's not a decent writer. And I'm sure he'll only get better in time. But you have to wonder why AC quality in his writing is so drastically different than what's been submitted to a client.

The points are that a) no one should be counting experience as a child in writing when they're marketing themselves to potential clients, and b) clients who aren't willing to pay for quality content shouldn't act so surprised and ticked off about it when they get something sub-standard for their needs.

When I posted earlier about my experience, I was extremely frustrated. Jenn you are absolutely right in saying that you get what you pay for...and true, I shouldn't complain about sub-standard work when the rate isn't that much. But where you are wrong is assuming that I had incredibly high standards. This is not the first time I have purchased articles on this forum and I have received excellent work from other writers for rates that were even less than what he charged. Was I expecting perfection? No. I always expect a certain amount of errors....but there is a limit.

I purchase articles on the forum because it’s a matter of opportunity cost...I feel that my time can be better spent doing something else. When I contracted Jason to write articles for me, I had read over the samples he sent and I felt that they were up to par with my needs (article submissions). Jason is not a bad writer by any means, he was just a little careless with the work he delivered to me, and that's why I was "ticked off". I am an emotional person (one of my many flaws) and I did jump the gun a little too quickly in this situation. I was upset about the age thing, and instead of giving him a chance to re-write the articles, I demanded my money back. We have discussed the situation and he has promised to do everything he can to rectify the situation. I will make sure to post an update as soon as I receive the re-written articles from Jason.
