There is no specific or standard cost. It varies from company to company and the services you want to avail. If we talk of India, the minimum cost for SEO service i have ever come across is Rs. 10,000.

Competition is obvious. Outsourcing to foreign countries makes it a lot cheaper and thus more affordable for the consumer. I have a floor rate of 250.00 per month. Some keywords do not qualify for the floor rate though. For some, such as a Real Estate key words, my floor is 500.00 per month. Just depends. But, 10,000 per month would be for a HUGE project.

 

There are dangers to out sourcing to eastern countries; I would try to find a company that is recommend by a real person as sometimes would be bargains can become a waste of money.

 

I worked for a seafood company in Orlando Florida and we got 3 different quotes. They each averages $30,000.00

 

It is like any other "service" industry... prices will vary from $1-$3/hr for unskilled SEO wannabees in some third world country to as much as a couple hundred dollars/hr for highly skilled SEOs. I would strongly suggest getting references before engaging in ANY contract for hire with an SEO. 99% of people who "claim" to be skilled are not, and could end up doing more harm than good... or at a minimum do NOTHING for your rankings but take your money.

If someone claims to be an expert, I would beware. The better SEOs don't "look" for work, work finds them because people they have worked for previously tell their friends who also own businesses about them.
