I am looking for a respected company that can write for me a professional press release for my new site and submit it. Not looking for amateurs or people that do it on their free time, do you know of any sites that do this?
PRWebDirect.com uses Newscrafters or SEO-PR http://seo-pr.com/ I think eAgent (member here) does press releases as well too.
I notice that they email the press release to a whole bunch of people, are they reliable? I mean, they aren't spammers or something like that?
A lot of professional PR person's I have talked to email every news contact they have. I don't think its spam, its expected. How many of the mails get read, who knows. Best way to get your PR published widely is to make it sound like a piece of news. A lot like those ebay "news stories" that come out every so often about strange auctions.
That is what I am concerned about. They can email it to the pope for all I care, but what's the use if it will end up in the trash? I honestly have no idea about press releases or how they work, but aren't there any sort of special paid sites where you can submit them and be sure that they will be included?
DPDirectory does not send to every single editor. They send to ones that are targetted, and have an extensive resource of contacts. For example, if you are writing a press release about a web site that's about cars, it would not be sent to an editor that writes a children's publication (just an example).
www.prweb.com - can't beat it. $80 gets you into yahoo news and google news, among others. Writing a press release is easy, even I can do it. They just want it more than 300 words and "news worthy" - I've announced site purchases, adding a product line, new product arrrivals. I've seen other people announce new contracts with UPS for shipping rates, who people select for fulfillment companies. The standard for "news" is really low.
There are some very good books on the subject of writing press releases. If you have a look on Amazon you should be able to find something that helps you get started With regard to distributing press releases I'd recommend that you send them as plain text, as a lot of newspapers and journalists won't open attachments.
not trying to hijack, but i am looking for a press release writter that has had experiance as well. *hides behind fryman*
I checked out DPDirectory out of curiosity - found a few dead links under FAQ which turned me around and went to another site. I have seen some great tutorials for writing an effective release. After clicking 2 dead links at DP I went over to PRweb - for the $80 submission level, your own written PR is given a second set of eyes by a paid editor; this seems like a good deal in that it's cheap enough to write your own and then have it reviewed by a pro which seems like it'd beat having to pay twice that amount, or more, to have it written by someone else and then submitted. Good luck - let us know what avenue you go down; I'm interested in seeing how this works out for you for my own future reference.
I will write you a professional, corporate grade press release. I have been doing this and helping my marketing department for two years. If you need me, tell me.
I don't know about the dead links. All I can speak on is the quality of service I have received. I cannot think of many services I can recommend as highly.
