Professional Logo Fonts

    I've noticed quite a few very nice looking fonts being used in the contests section to make really nice, smooth logos. Do you have any suggestions on some really nice fonts to use making logos? Are these people buying these fonts, or are they creating their own on an individual basis?

    Thanks in advance for your input.

    www.dafont.com has some pretty decent free fonts. I tend to get most of mine from there.

    I tend to use some more basic fonts, sans/serif.

    There's a good idea. If we could get some of the logo designers from DP to share some of their favorite fonts with us.

    Font Freak has a good selection of free fonts as does 1001 Free Fonts.

    To answer your question about where the fonts come from, sometimes they are from these free font sites, sometimes they are purchased. Also, no matter what the source, some slight customization to the typeface is done sometimes to make a wordmark really pop.

    If you're after professional typefaces then unfortunately sites like DaFont just don't cut it. Every man and his dog uses these fonts so they're hardly original. If you want quality then you need to pay for it. Sorry but that's life. A few favourites of mine;
    Hope that helps.

    I absolutely don't mind spending money. I also wouldn't care if I actually lost money in my design endeavors. I'm just looking for answers, and I do appreciate your answers. I'll definitely be looking up the fonts you listed.

    What kind of font is good for text in Flash movie? I just started learning it and made a little movie but some text is really crispy sharp and some are blurred out.

    Is using pixel font better than normal fonts? :confused:

    MY favorite font is:

    Avant Garde (in windows)
    Century Gothic (in mac)

    It's simple and works well on it's own. Perfect for logos.

    I agree with you, every fonts has potential to use in a logo, it depends on how you place it on the design

    Linotype is a great name in design industries, no doubt that most of big design, advertising and printing companies use linotype fonts beside itc, monotype and image club
