product domains

    hi, is it legal to register product domains that you don't own? for example, say mattel had a doll named malibu barbie. Can I register malibubarbie.com and link to ebay auctions there? If you can't do exact names, then what something similar like mymalibubarbie.com? thanks

    Sure you can .... as long as you don't mind being sued for trademark infringement.

    Finding trademark domains are hard, as there are many companies who buy them and sell them for a high price. But you should be fine with it

    Wrong. Research cybersquatting and see what happens when you try to sell a domain to a trademark holder. Mattel is known as one of the most aggressive IP owners and have been known to take legal action for damages even if the domain is turned over to them.
