Product Competition

    Hello

I have been doing affiliate marketing for a couple of years now and I have decided I would like to get into product creation.

I was thinking initially to create a product around an interest/hobby of mine. I have looked and there is already an e-book in clickbank for this, do you think its possible to make sales and get affiliates on board even though there is already an ebook available?

    Thanks

There is no way to tell unless you give us the niche, do some research yourself! Look for searches per month, gravity of the product, do you think you could make a better sales page? Too many factors to answer such a vague question... you have been an affiliate for longer then I have been in the game, you should be able to figure this out yourself!! Why not be an affiliate for that product and see how it converts for you?

Its hard to find something there isn't an ebook for... possibly impossible? .... imo if it already exists then its an indication that it sells and is a good sign.. dont try and innovate, just make something better?

That's a good idea. Is there only one other competitor in the niche?
Even if there are some competitors in the niche, try to find out if there is a potential for you to carve a space for yourself depending upon your marketing strength. Are all the major keywords already blown to death? Try to find it out yourself.

If there's already a lot of competition but you think that you have the skills and money to do well, you can give it a go. Good luck!

Yes, as long as you have researched the niche and there is a big enough market there I say jump in!

The competition should not be a factor really unless the market is completely swamped.

Jump in and make a really good effort to promote yourself.

If you have made a converting salespage/product then affiliates will jump on board.

Thank you all for your answers :)

I do plan on making more in depth products of the highest quality, this including a well written ebook and high quality video tutorials.

Being an affiliate for some time, I also understand how important resources are. Therefore I intend to try and produce as many high quality resources for affiliates as possible.

There's literally nothing that hasn't been previously sold, so unless you come up with some kind of totally brand-new idea, your will have direct competitors.

Although, you can always provide better quality information, than what's already being sold, which will give you an advantage.

Focus on creating a "converting product", if you do that you will do well. Having the best ebook is the world is useless if your copy dont convince anyone to buy

The worrying thing would be if no competition existed as it could indicate no market. It is rare (not impossible) for a product to go huge and have no competition. However, it is more likely some competition exists, but it isn't effective enough at selling to a broader demographic.

    ^ Further to Gan's point,

There may be 'only one' competitor for a reason, and if they have crap grav but a half decent offer/site, that's a good indication that the niche/product type is hard to monetize.

You'll notice stuff that does well, there's usually a boat of good offers/products, and a bunch of copy cats chasing the originals...

You need to do some research. Find out the gravity of the product, and the time frame it is on the market. Search for similar products. You can always go with same product, if you do better promotion to affiliates than your competition.
