Hi All, I have a question that I hope to get some resolution to because I feel like I have been on both sides of this regarding process. This is an agency process question. As a copywriter, we often have to edit large documents, some of which is pickup of an older file with client changes. Nothing new there I’m sure. Also, what’s not new is that I spend a ridiculous amount of time going back and forth trying to match the tracked changes I make in word document with changes that the art director makes to the original document. I just feel like if you are editing a large document that will require a lot of changes, doesn’t it just make sense to flow all the copy from the word document into the indesign or whatever software the art directors are using? Rather than going back and forth trying to match documents? Then at least the flowed in copy will be a perfect match of the “blessed†word document. It seems like that will at least cut a decent amount of errors up front. Am I crazy for thinking this? Thanks in advance, Pete
I'm slightly confused... but if you're going through these changes in Word, a newer version of Word, surely you're using the included tools to track changes on both ends? In which case, it should be easiest to finish the entire document in Word before putting the final, satisfactory product in any other format.
