process of search engine indexing

Dear Member,
I want to know process of cowling,indexing and caching of search engine .but i am more confused about it that which one is first?
if anybody know about it pls answered me with references of sources?

There are also many threads here about crawling and indexing. You can use the search bar at the forum to find all those threads.

Of course, first is crawler/bot visits to fetch details about your site, the rest of the process is too technical for search engine to explain. All you got to do is ready up your site with its on-page and off page factor, let SE do their job.

As per Google webmaster's guidelines, the entire process is broadly defined in three ways. Crawling, Indexing and Serving Results.
But nobody knows how actually these processes take place.
