    It's simple really, which one do you vote for as the better off-server forum provider? Invisonfree.com or proboards.com

    example sites:
    s3.invisionfree.com/gameuniverse = Invisionfree.com board
    adsite.proboards26.com = Proboards.com board

    Also take note: If you haven't used one of the above then use it so that you can make a fair comparison instead of saying: "I've never heard of them before, I don't know".

    If you plan on posting "I don't know" responses like the one above, then please don't even bother posting at all.

    on a serious note...I've used both before, and there's no doubt in my mind that InvisionFree is better. It still sucks, but not as much as proboards.

    I suggest downloading SMF and finding a free host with ads instead...as bad as free hosts are, it's better than IF

    I'd use neither. I didn't vote because there was no 3rd choice.

    I've tried both. Proboards has some decent mods, but those mods require too much reliance on additional 3rd party hosts, their template system is poor, and their ads of overkill.

    IF is better in most respects, but it is basically a handicapped version of an out of date BBS.

    Run something serverside. There are plenty of free options like phpBB, SMF, YaBB, OcBB, MyBB, UseBB, UltimaBB, XMB, wtcBB, Ikon Boards, Web Wiz, Mega BBS, PunBB, ect that are all better options.

    invisionfree, though I ended putting upside down my PC until I found my old invision 1.3 script, setting up the forum by myself instead.

    I've created quite a few forums, and by far, the best free forum hosting I've come into contact with is Forumotion.com
    The Admin CP is very user friendly and the learning curve is relatively small. It has a very sleek look, and is pretty user friendly when it comes to your users.
