Problems with uploading a gif to my server?

YAHHH!!!!

i looked into the "mimi types" extensions within the bluehost on their main page (i stumbled on the icon when i was looking for a phone number so i could call for tech support) and .gif wasnt even on there....BUT ".png" WAS listed as a image type, so i saved the file this time within paint.net as .png and reuploaded it and IT WORKED! lolo

this is a mean trick....i had it once under what i did, but now its back to its old tricks.....it has to be something else because the file type is an image like its supposed to be and everything else matches as far as the file discription. its just not showing up on the web page. you mentioned clearing the cache? could that be it?
