Hi i'm facing many problems with my current hosting i always receive these emails from my cPanel: map failed @ Sun Nov 22 09:12:52 2009. A restart was attempted automagically. Service Check Method: [tcp connect] Failure Reason: Unable to connect to port 143 Code (markup): spamd failed @ Sat Nov 21 18:55:01 2009. A restart was attempted automagically. Service Check Method: [check command] Cmd Service Check Raw Output: Spamd is not running Code (markup): what's the problem and how to solve it? what's happening exactly? i've contacted the hosting company they told me that my service doesn't cover software maintenance
How much memory is in the VPS and how much is being used? I'm wondering if a bump up would be helpful. Gotta admit that I don;t like the response you got from your hoster.
me too i didn't like his response and that's why i'm moving to different hosting next month. this is my VPS: as you can see it's 4Gb of RAM and i'm using very little... what's this bump up?
Actually no, I can't see that image as the site's blocked. I'm assuming that by 4 gigs you mean allowed memory. That should be fine although that's an aweful lot. I'm wondering if maybe the host is overselling and you;re still running out since it's already been allocated. You may also have a bad install of the OS as well. Could be a number of things actually. If you;re planning on moving already, I'd just chalk this one up to experience and get out of there asap.
here's the screen shoot again yeah i'm planing to move to a dedicated server... any recommendation of good cheap dedicated server with good support?
tinypic's blocked too but thanks for trying. I'd just flip through the BST -> Services -> Webhosting subforum and see what you can find. I offer servers as well but 1) it's against the rules to offer one to you in this thread and 2) I'm out of them and ip addresses to assign anyway.
don't tell me this site is blocked too lol Thanks for trying to help buddy, so it's probably an OS problem thanks!
I see that one fine. I don;t see any major issues though. For me, usually services start failing with high loads and (oh heck, I forget the name of the script) kicks in and does a reboot when the load gets above 10 and stays there for awhile. Usually that's a sign that a program has maxed out the processor or is caught in a loop.
Without having access, there's no real way to tell what the solution is. Could be many things. My guess would be, since memory appears not to be an issue, is a bum OS install which would be a problem for your host to look at, managed or unmanaged. But again:
and that's what will happen.... but i'm afraid to face the same problem somewhere else.... do you think hosting companies should solve this? or i should hire a technician ?
If it was happening to one of my servers, I'd be looking at it. It also could be a hardware issue with a bad ram chip. Or the processor has become defective or overheating. It could be one of a hundred things that stops a program from running. This is one of those errors that, especially since it's different programs that are failing, it's kind of hard to point at one cause and say that's the problem. Memory allocation is thew first thing that came to mind which is why I suggested it. Some *NIX based OS'es don't allocate swap files as a default and that may be a concern here. Although with 4 gigs of memory allocated, it shouldn't be an issue.
