Problems with Installment Payments

The following is from Click Bank.

The Problem with Returns, Until now if someone returned the product he would only get a refund within 8 weeks. Which is the same now for multiple payment returns, the only way a customer can get back multiple payments is by returning the product withing 8 weeks. So Far So Good. But if the person would return the product after 8 weeks it seems that they will be refunded the last installment "The return policy for installments allows for the most recent payment to be returned." This can not mean when the customer is asking for a refund within 8 weeks because if he would then he would be getting multiple payments back.

Problem # 2 is with cancellations is, if the customer makes one payment and decides that he doesn't want to continue with the installments he can simply cancel future payment and still keep the product since it is not a return. This is a big loss for publishers and affiliates. "A cancellation means that no future installments are charged to the customer's account." At the end of the day the buyer is getting a big discount by paying only one out of the (2 - 4) payments.

This was my quick observation of the new program. I am sure there are many benefits with this program but here are 2 shortfalls that publishers and affiliates should keep in mind.

I read it over, and it seems as if you do not have to use installment payments options if you don't want to.

It says to activate it, you need to re-setup each product in your products tabs and specify the installment info.

I am going to hang tight with my current setup until I hear some feedback about installments. I'm not sold on the idea yet

I too feel it is a big injustice to both the vendors and affiliates alike.
If CB is really interested in reforms, I would advise to make an alternative payment method apart from checks....something like wire transfer or paypal.

Thats correct the publishers will need to opt in, inorder to accept installment payments.

This is something that has been bothering many of us for a long time. If they can accept payment via PayPal then they should be able to pay us that way. Instead of having to wait a week or so until the check arrives (depending on your location it may take longer.)
