I have the Centita wordpress theme installed on a few different sites. However, there’s a big problem with the display of the sites when viewing on my client’s Samsung Tab(let). Here’s the two sites: http://www.aaadraincleaning.com http://www.lineitva.com Here’s what they look like when viewed on the Samsung Tab: http://www.screenshots.cc/photos/original/83652-9xxtj.jpg http://www.screenshots.cc/photos/original/83653-7mezj.jpg Any idea what may be causing the overlap? Maybe something to do with the Cufon? I know little about how cufons work behind the scenes so that’s just a guess. Please advise. Thanks in advance!
well looks like they didn't create a responsive theme and the css is messing up when the size of the screen changes. The best way to solve this issue is to have a responsive theme build from it or to install one (which of course you don't know about)
Hi there, I'm not sure if this will help but there is a mobile plug-in pack that automatically switches your theme to a mobile version based upon the device viewing it. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mobile-pack/ If however you want to upload a specific theme just for mobile devices then this plug-in will help. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/any-mobile-theme-switcher/ There are loads more plugins that can help - just go to the plugins site and enter `mobile' and you should get a bunch of useful stuff! Hope this helps. Johnny ps. sorry I didn't put actual links in the post - I have a newbie account and it restricts me ;-)
correct me if i'm wrong but a responsive theme is basically a mobile version where i basically create a new theme that has different alignments (vertical) and reduced content and things of that nature. but the big question is, if the current theme is not responsive (we know its not) they want doesnt it just appear as a shrunk down version of its normal self? instead its just acting completely wacky. we wouldnt mind if it were just a shrunk down version, which seems to be the case for most other sites we view on the device. any ideas?
my way to go would be to make it completly responsive otherwise get in contact with the theme author and ask for help (I doubt they will help you, but it could be worth a try)
rather than re-building it from the ground up to make it completely responsive, is there an easier way to make it completely non-responsive so that it just appears shrunken like most other websites?
Hi sixrfan, just out of curiosity - which version of the Galaxy Tab are you using and which browser? I have the now slightly older 7" version (Gt-P1000) running firmware 2.3.3 - and both your sites look fine in it using both the firefox browser and the standard one that comes with it. Johnny
Unfortunately, there is no quick fix to make a theme responsive to the different viewing sizes of a mobile device. It has to be coded that way from the ground up. I can tell you the first problem is the header. Your images are large and fixed so there is nowhere for them to go except overlap when viewed on a smaller device. There is no additional coding to account for the change in screen size. Now I'm sure that you can make some coding adjustments, but you'll have to learn a little more about designing for mobile devices. You may have some luck with a plug in, but for the most part, you are using a theme with fixed dimensions and it's probably not going to work the way that you want it. I suggest reading some articles about designing for mobile devices. This is a good place to start: http://www.w3.org/standards/
it's a 4G LTE. If it's working properly on yours, do you mind sending a screenshot? According to the two articles below, you just hold down the backspace key and press the power button until it takes the screenshot. Then it’s save in your “Gallery†folder. So you just access the gallery folder and e-mail it. http://www.androidcentral.com/take-screenshots-samsung-galaxy-tab http://en.kioskea.net/faq/11631-samsung-galaxy-tab-how-to-make-a-screenshot Thanks!
I just looked at your site on my Motorola XYBoard (10.1 inch widescreen, 1280 x800, HD 1080p) and it looks fine in landscape mode and in portrait mode it's just a shrunken down version of the same. I'm not seeing the same layout problems as you have shown. Unfortunately I can't take a screen shot for you.
Hi sixrfan, that's cool with the screen capture! Here are your two sites on my Tab. Zooming and menus all work fine as well. My best, Johnny
