Problems uploading to my site?

Okay, quite a while ago I purchased a site called topfootballgoals.com. As part of taking over ownership I had to get the previous owner to download the site, send it to me and then I could upload it to my host.

I received the download from the previous owner, but when I try to upload it it doesn't work. My host is hostgator.

I got the file in zipped format with WinRAR, if that matters.

    I log into the Cpanel.

    I go to backups.

On the backups page, if it matters, in the top left corner it says "backup not enabled".

On the backups page I have 3 options, 1. restore a home directory backup, 2. restore a MySQL database, 3. restore an email domain forwarder/filter.

I assume it's option 1 that I'm supposed to do. So I select browse, select the backup, and click upload.

It then goes to a page. That says Restoring Files and a long list of what I assume are all of the files.

The problem I encounter is that it never finishes uploading, it just stays on this page and doesn't do anything. I once even left it for about 12 hours thinking maybe it just took a long time, but it still never uploaded.

I don't have much experience at all with stuff like this, I'm only just starting to get into websites. Sorry if this sounds like a stupid problem.

    Any help is appreciated.

If you have a backup file that contains a FULL backup(web pages, mysql etc) then you can not restore it from the cPanel. You will have to contact hostgator support to restore it. Please unzip the backup file to check whether it is a full backup or not. If your backup contains the folders like HomeDir, MySQL etc then it is a full backup.

    Ah, I see.

I think it's a full backup, the owner sent the entire site to me in the zipped file.

I just looked at the files and it appears to be a full backup, I'll get in contact with hostgator then.

thanks for the help mayurgondaliya, I'm finally getting somewhere. +rep

Yes, you should contact your host, in this hostgator, and let them restore this for you.
