Problems editing images in Photoshop 7

When I try to edit gifs and jpegs in Photoshop 7, I'm having some troubles. It won't let me add layers. Also, when I click to add text, it changes the colors in the image.

    Why does it do that?

copy these images to a new workspace. work on this image and save it over old one. any version of ps don't allow work on gifs.

I hope your page is on idexed color mode. Go to Image > Mode and select RGB. Now you can add layers.

    Simply CTRL + A, then CTRL + C, then CTRL + N, and CTRL + V! :)

hi adam, ramakrishna is probably pretty right here, it's an easy trap, open up a gif image try to add a layer and then just go crazy!!!
