I have a website and trying to add a blog to it such as website.com/blog

My main website has something on it that shows that it is not available when I already installed wordpress. I do not know if this is some type of 404 redirect that I can get rid of or how I can do this. Needing help if someone can help me it would be much appreciated.

Nope different databases. I uploaded wordpress there and had a successful install. I can actually even log in to the wordpress using an extension instead of just /blog. I am trying to figure out more right now but any help is appreciated.

It appears everything showing under the URL "/blog" is coming from the same setup you have installed under "/" directory... thus displaying that 404 because "blog" is not found (for whatever reason) from the main install. You will get the same page for anything else that does not exist... such as:
    http://sumcontent.com/test/

Maybe the main install of "Your Articles Directory" has some rewrite rule in its .htaccess file that is blocking access to the WordPress install ?

What is the WordPress address (URL) setting set for in the admin panel under settings? The install in blog folder maybe need to have blog name attached to URL?

I think it does have to do with the htaccess file and looking over it now. I just don't want to screw up the whole website trying to add on a blog that is just an extra to the website and not needed.
