My wordpress blog can be found here: http://www.starsdancingontv.com Whenever I click on "comments (0)" nothing happens except a page reload. I haven't been getting comments on my site and now I know why. I have checked each post and all of them allow comments so I'm not sure if it is a coding issue or not. I'm pretty much stumped at this point. Any help anyone could give, I'd certainly appreciate it. Alyssa
I looked in my template folder and nope, there is no comments.php in my folder. The only problem now is the guy who designed this for me is not responding to my pleas for help so I'm not sure how to go about writing that page. Is there any documentation on constructing one of these pages? You guys have already been such a big help already and to think I've been agonizing and bugging my web designer all this time - should have just come here first. Anyways, if anyone can point me to the documentation or what goes in a comments.php file, please respond back and as usual - THANK YOU! Alyssa
Alyssa Im not sure how your site is set up, but there should be wp-content/themes/yourtheme/ in that last folder is where the comments.php usually goes. Dont know if it will help you in your case, but here is a typical comments.php Perhaps you could create a comments.php and then copy this into that file and see if it works for you.
You might try using grabbing a comments.php form another theme, like the default theme. That's what I would try first. See what happens. Be sure to back everything up first.
Ok, I added a comments.php file and grabbed the code from here and then I noticed in my default template that there is a file called comments-popup.php. So, I created that too and copied the code from the default and pasted it into there. I tried that and the comments still don't work. Am I missing something else? Do I have to set permissions for these files? Is there extra code added somewhere? I click on the comments and it looks like something is loading, but then the same page just loads again. When you click comments again, nothing happens. I think we are getting somewhere, but I think I'm still missing something.
It probably has something to do with how your template was created. The comments.php should have permissions set to 644. If you would trust someone enough to grant them temporary cpanel access I wouldnt mind taking a look. I cant guarantee that I can find the problem but I am willing to try.
