Hey I am optimizing one website. it is industry specific website. I started promotion through directory submission. Now the problem is...I submitted to one directory suppose it is xyz.com. So only one back link I suppose to expect. But when I check my backlinks that website is giving me stupid backlinks like
    xyz.com/books
    xyz.com/furniture
like this I am getting 50 backlinks to my website. As I know backlink should be related to that website (vote). So I am thinking that will affect my ranking.
When i open that backling URL (I am using google webmaster tool to check back links) then open source code. I didnt find my website URL

Can you explain me why this stuff happen .. & tell me this links are good or bad.
Should I remove it. or not
    and solution also.
I think to put robots txt.

    Please give me suggestion.
And let me know it happens to you or not.

Looks like the directory where you placed your link is visited frequently by "sraper site" bots.

They "scrape" the directory and place snippets o what they found on the pages they create automatically.

Pages that rank well for certain search terms, the "scrapers" are searching for suffer the same effect frequently.

Don't worry for your rankings, you can't control who is linking to your site, but never link back to such neighborhood.

Good (related) links count and bad ones just don't count.
