It would be helpful if you gave the actual error you;re receiving else all we can do is make guesses.

There's no downlink on that page. Just lots of adsense. Reported for linkspam.

This is the plugin we use for WordPress sitemaps and comes very highly recommended by the wordpress community:

    http://www.arnebrachhold.de/projects/wordpress-plugins/google-xml-sitemaps-generator/

But that's all moot since it has nothing to do with the original question. The problem is on Google's end as the generated sitemap is too large.

Dividing the site up into sections would probably be the best way to go although not sure if the plugin will allow that. A link to the actual site would be a plus so we can see what it looks like. (Please don't be an ass like the other 3 folks I've asked that question to today and gotten snotty responses back. I ask for a reason and it should have been given in the first post anyway.)

May have to go with an external solution like an offsite mapper.

Generating that much big sitemap you will definitely get problems. Just split your sitemap into small sitemaps.

We've already covered that as noted above. We're waiting for the url so we can suggest how to split it.
