Hey everyone, Hopefully I am posting this in the right spot! If not im sure an admin will move it ;)

This is the error I get when I try to make a new category:

    An error occured while saving.

The database server returned the following message:

Unknown column 'META_KEYWORDS' in 'field list'

How am I able to fix this?

    Linda.

are you using an outdated database (2.0) on 3.06 without running the install script again ?

    Almost certainly.

But why would you post a phpLD support question here when phpLD has a support forum frequented by both the owner and the chief coder?

1 - I believe you have to pay for support for ver 3+
2 - I am not signed up on that forum, and this forum has MANY people already running this script, why wouldn't I just ask for help here?

As for using an outdated category dump... I have no idea which I am using, downloaded it from someone on here.

I already have links listed, will this hurt if I run the install again?

That's true. And increasingly I believe that was a bad business decision by David Duval. You buy a product - support should be included in the purchase price.

Ottawa is cool and rainy today. But if you're 30 minutes south of Ottawa, we're at about the same latitude... Not far from Kemptville here... :)

One question for you now: have you not made the price of the script up in submissions to your directory already?

He's not complaining about the price of the script. He's commenting on the extra charge for support.

There is some free support there, of course - just not for version 3.

*she's ;) Not complaining about the price of the script - but having to pay for support is just stupid in my opinon.

Any idea on how to fix it....without loosing all the submitted links... anyone?

Sorry, FanAddict. SHE is not complaing about the script. :)

Is this a plain vanilla installation? Any mods added? And which version of phpLD are you using at the moment?

(As I said in another thread, for me, every version after 3.0 did odd things, many of which crashed my browser. After each update, I reverted to version 3.0, until I finally gave up and switched to eSyndicat.)

On one of my directories, I have that same problem.
Can not add any categories, sub-categories.

Even after saving the database, then deleting every thing (love just clicking on public_html and hitting delete), and then reuploading everything, still the same problem.

And like Fanaddict, I am not going to pay for support for a product I bought.
    That is stupid!

So the directory sits there, not being to add any categories.
Which is a pain since I paid for the script and it is not working.

Yeah, I am looking at esyndicat and may move away from a product that has no support unless you have to pay for it. One big reason I am not buying another license of the script to upgrade one of my directories.

Try reverting to version 3.0 -- as I said, that was the only 3.x level version I ever got to work correctly.

Exactly, there is free support. And I do help 3.0+ investors. i help everyone, and I don't get paid for it, but you dont see me complaining.

As far as the question I asked, It wasn't about the price of the script either.
I simply asked if link purchases have exceeded purchase price, which in the case that it has(and I am more than certain of it), that is when you take your investment as an inverstor, and reinvest in some 'extra' support.

see the pattern? invest->make money->re-invest in your product.

It's truely that simple of a solution.

FanAddict, is this an upgrade from a previous version? 2.0?
If yes, did you run the installer again? Or did you just upload the files?

Apparently your database is not 'up to snuff' because you seem to not be possessing the proper table structure for your database.

Have you modified anything at all?

    Who did your install?

These are the things the phpLD gods have asked me to ask you :D

I don't want this to turn into another "us against them" phpld thread, An0n. I was a huge fan of phpLD 2.x and 3.0 - it was after that that my opinion went sour and that had nothing to do with the support forum moderators or contributors. I explained some of the reasons for that opinion in another thread.

In the meantime, I'm trying to assist FanAddict by pointing out my experience with versions after 3.0. And I'm sure you know that I am not the only one who had problems with Boby's coding.
