I got a problem with my computer - It cant connect to the router. There was no problem before. When I try to connect to the router I get the message "Acquiring address" when I hoover the WIFI icon in the activity filed in the menu bar.

I have tried 2 different WIFI cards - the both work perfect with the correct drivers. The TCP/IP is set to get the IP and DNS automatically from the router and we have removed the KEY from the router and all security.

I have cleared DNS cash in my computer.

No I can't figure out what more to test to get this working.

    Got any ideas?

I've been having a problem recently about my router getting hot. I unplug it for a few hours, then plug it back in and it's ready to go. Mine is a Belkin, what brand is yours?

First check that power management is not switched on for your wireless card in your PC. If its on, turn it off.
Second, check with your router manufacturer's website and see if theres a firmware update available. If there is, download it and install it (use an ethernet cable to connect your PC to the router during the update).
Thirdly, download a wireless survery tool (something like Netstumbler) to get a quick look at the wireless environment around you. If some of your neightbours are using the same wireless channel as your router is, this can cause trouble, so you should change the channel from your router admin area.
Fourth thing I would do is disable any 3rd party wireless management software you are using to control your wireless card. If using Windows XP, just let the Windows Zero Configuration Utility manage the connection and see how it goes.
Fifth thing I can think of is check and see if there is a newer driver for your wireless card. If you dont know where to look for this, download and install RadarSync...it will check for newer drivers for you automatically.

Try to run the cmd ipconfig /renew

Other than that, you will want to login via the local IP (control panel) and I would reset everything to default
