Problem with my host.

Discussion in 'Site & Server Administration' started by cocaine, Mar 3, 2007.

I had a site benionline.com.np. Due to the problem I wanted to move the site to another domain which is hosted in the same server. I downloaded the full backup the site and reuploaded that to the another domain. Now they say the backup does not work for another domain.

Isnt that only host who can transfer the site from one domain to another domain? How can I transfer my site?

This can't be done using cpanel full backup tool, but your host can do it without you geting involved in any way (or at least the should be able to do so ;) ).

I had uploaded the backup of my old domain and uploaded that to the new domain. When I said them to restore the backup they said the backup wont work for new domain. Is that true?

If both, previous and current are Cpanel, then it can be transfered easily, problem is with your hosting providers.

Yeah, they are the worst host I think among the hosts I've ever used. I am soon changing to www.resellerzoom.com . Do you know anything about this one?

I have read many negative reviews about RZ on WHT and other web hosting review sites. You better be avoiding them. Reseller hosting for so cheap don't makes any sense. They are over selling their servers.

I always recommend to use hosting companies which are loyal, hosting more than 25000 websites and are in business for more than 5 years.

Try Bluehost.com, hostgator.com or exabytes.com. They are fantastic.

Well, if your host had any brains they would give you a better explanation than that.

    Is this a full/complete backup?

If so, the backup is tied to your domain and username.
The most likely reason for it failing, is that the domain and username already exists on that same server.

If you are trying to move a site from one domain to another, it's probably best to do it manually. This is especially true if you are using a script and database. Again, the reason is the username, you would have to re-configure your script variables anyway.
