Problem with my backlinks

    Hello all.

In the latest months the ranking of one of my websites ( www.moneyreview.org ) decreased a lot.

After re-writing and improving the on-page factors I decided to check the website backlinks.

I went to yahoo site explorer and I found that it has a total of 215 inlinks, but many of them came from the member pages of few forums.

I never joined these forums - think that many of them are chinese forum, and I do not know it at all.

I can't understand why members of other forums should link to my wesbite. Any idea?

Is possible that google penalized my website because of these un-related backlinks?

    Thank you very much.

it's unlikely that you've been penalised - a couple of hundred wouldn't seem enough to get a penalty - what may have happened is that they were being counted before and so contributed to your previous ranking, and are now being ignored, having been reviewed as 'spam', therefore leading to the drop.

As to why they appeared in the first place - did you get any kind of SEO or link building agency involved at any point, that could have done this without telling you exactly what they were doing?

yes, I hired 3 seo agencies in the past. One of them made a good work, the other 2 didn't.

Do you think one of them done this? Is this a legal way to do seo? Isn't just spamming?

    Thank you.

Well you can do SEO on your own without doing spamming here and there! Try to do add comments on Do-follow sites which have same niche likes yours. Use Article marketing which is very effective way to build a links for you and it also improve your SERPs too! One of easy way to build links as put it your signature link and make few posts on different forums!

It's legal, but it's not ethical - it is spammy and it does come with risks - if you know you didn't do it, then it does seem very likely that one of those agencies did.
