This kind of blue screen is seriously problem about the hardware, many possible reason although.

    1. Check your RAM to see if it is working fine or not.
    2. Check your your motherboard to see if some signal arise or not.
    3. Check to see if CPU fan working or not. Sometime CPU overheat can caused this.

Follow these steps to fix a Blue Screen in Safe Mode
Once booting start, select "Safe Mode" from the boot menu.
Scan your hard drive by running your antivirus software. If the program locates an infection, move it to your vault or follow the on-screen instructions. After program completation, if a virus was removed, attempt to reboot your computer and see if this clears up the problem. If not, restart your computer in safe mode.
Restore your computer to a previous point. Click on the "Start" button. Select "All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools" and finally "System Restore". Choose a restore point on or before the last day your computer worked without error. Finally Reboot your computer to see if it loads correctly.

    Hi There

As you are getting this error while "formating" your system then Safe Mode etc won't help you.

I take it by stating "formatting" you mean installing / reinstalling Windows Vista

Check your hard drive for errors using chkdsk /f/r via a boot CD etc (I can help with that if need be)

Also can you state how many hard drives are in the system and which type of interfaces they have ie IDE / SATA etc?

I spent ages trying to install Windows 7 on to a perfectly functioning machine only discover that it was blue screening due to the onboard RAID controller being enabled in the BIOS.

If you get stuck etc then just ask.

    Regards

Is it a legit copy of windows? If not it may be corrupted.

An honest response (best one) would be to install Ubuntu :)

The screen shows that this is not a OS issue. It seems your system hardware issue.
