Problem with Keyword Tracker and google?

Discussion in 'Keyword Tracker' started by joeychgo, Nov 2, 2005.

I just ran the keyword checker. I check several sites that I own, and a few competitor sites.

MOST of my keyword rankings have dropped out according to the tracker. But when I manually checked a few sites in Google, they were right where they should be for both me and my competitors.

I then checked McDar's - and saw my keywords are fine, right where they should be.

So I have to conclude its the tracker. (I was concerned it was the coop, but wanted to check things before jumping to conclusions) It seems the tracker isnt pulling proper results from Google.

If you are using the advanced usage script, update it to the latest one available. Google's proxys have been terribly unstable today, so I added some stuff to it to fallback (and retry) when they are whacky (like now).

I was wondering, since google updates the 1,000 queries each day at random intervals (it seems); would there be a way for the tracker to run not at the same time each day? To give it more than exactly 24 hours between each run?

That happens. Sometimes if you click the same keyword again, it'll show up again. Google's API is very weird.

No, not really... wouldn't matter anyway because Google doesn't reset the counters exactly after 24 hours... sometimes 13 hours, sometimes 48 hours or (seemingly) anything in between...

I got the same problem as Joey did... it went to do lookups, then showed it was done awfully fast. Huge dropouts, my heart sank, did a few individual lookups and they went fine.

So I figured, what the hell, let's put up the kw tracker adv script on a different site/server, see what happens. Changed the prefs to match it.

Checking again, it seems to kill the thread almost immediately. It does seem to be doing the backlink checks.

Any clues? I will probably just try later...

The keyword tracker just told me I had exceeded the 1000 query limit but with some over a 100 keywords I'm not sure how I could have done that. I've been checking once a day during this Jagger thing.
