Problem with godaddy hosting ( 500 internal server error)

Discussion in 'Apache' started by kks_krishna, Mar 13, 2009.

    HI,

I am using the godaddy.com for hosting. Every day I am getting the 500 internal server error, but I don't know what went wrong.

I really want to solve this problem soon because it affects my business.
From my end there is no problem because the site is working fine. But, after
a long time suddenly the site is showing "500 internal server error". I will
have to update the .htaccess file to make it work.

Will it be a problem with the Apache server configuration like maximum
    redirection using the .htaccess file?.

Can you tell me what could be the other possible reason for the issue?

I am desperately need your help to solve this problem.

    Pardon my honesty.

Your choice of a host may very well be your problem.

Why you are telling that? This is my first time getting this kind of problem. Who will be the best hosting company?

Have you contacting their support? If so what did they say is causing the repeated 500 error?

Firstly, exactly what do you change on the .htaccess file to make it work again?

Secondly, did you give their support the exact sequence you use to fix it and did you contact them while leaving the site with 500 errors so they can see it, if not I'd wait for the next round of errors and then put the ticket it.

Can you access error logs, they'll often point you to what is wrong

It seems every day specific time server is updating some settings..that causes the problem. The same problem ocurred for many customers. Most of them changed their hosting to some other company. I don't know how to solve it.

You said you can fix it by editing .htaccess so exactly what do you edit on .htaccess?

There's loads of good hosts out there so if your current host is hurting your business do as you said the customers have and move.
