Under tools, options, general, what is your home page set to? There are also extensions like tabbrower preferences which give you a lot more control of what, and how a new tab loads.

Yep! I am facing the same. If there is any solution, do let me know :) Problem occurs only on the computers connected to LAN. (Whenever there is a direct connection to the internet, things work fine)

some software can do google your startpage, and even more -
it can to add some result-items at serp. Usually u can read about it
in EULE (or something like this. "hi dear user, this is freeware.....")
but some programms.... u understand i think :)

    make attention on "adware" word

Looks like you're gonna have to use IE or Opera. I suggest keeping an eye out for future versions of FF, or search for a patch that fixes this.

Sounds like Firefox has been interfered with by some sort of malware. Unless you closed the gap during your format, the security hole is still present and has been exploited again. If there are other computers on your LAN, then the malware is probably lurking on one of those, or perhaps the XP partition that doesn't get formatted unless you tinker about with the partition settings prior to formatting.

Sounds like you need to beef up your computer security. Firewall, Anti-virus, Spyware Blaster, Spybot, etc.
