Problem with domain registered @ GoDaddy

I have a problem with a domain registered with GoDaddy.

On Saturday I had to renew a domain (I will call it "domain1.com") and buy a new one ("domain2.net"). Unfortuantely during the process I have opened two browser windows on GoDaddy site and the system have processed the domains together.

The problem is that "domain2.net" seems to be forced to forward to "domain1.com", I have also changed the DNS pointing one domain to another server but the problem persist.

I have already contacted the support but they said that it is a hosting problem (I have others GoDaddy domains hosted on that server without any problem) :(

    Any idea?

    Thanks

most of the time when its DNS issue it will resolve within 48 hours but once you past the 48 hours mark than you should start to get worry.

You could contact your hosting for advice first.

The strange thing is that it was "forwarded" also a minute after the registration, normaly it should display the GoDaddy page. It can't be an hosting problem.

I have also tried to forward it to another domain but it still go to "domain1.com" :(

I'm not sure it was your fault. A couple of months ago I had a similar problem when I moved one of my domains from parked to hosted. Email support could not seem to solve the problem so I called and held while they fixed it.

Now in your case it may be fixed and the dns may not have resolved. Find a proxy site and visit your 2 domains using that and see if they are coming up correctly.

Unfortunately I cannot call the support because I live in Europe (there will be some high phone costs :D)

Now I have changed the DNS to the default one. I have tried accessing through a proxy and now I can see the GoDaddy page!!!

Can you please explain how you have fixed that?

    Thanks

In my case their scripts screwed up. They never actually admitted that, but it took a senoir tech to fix it.

Is Godaddy your host? And do you have the multiple domain plan?

I need to know and I will try to tell you how to fix it.

Will check back here in about an hour.

No, at the moment I have changed DNS back to the Godaddy default ones.

I have a hosting with another company not GoDaddy and I hosting 5-10 domains there.

Is that something that must be fixed by the hosting company?

    Thank you very much! :)

If your hosting is somewhere else and this is your second domain on the account, you need to add it on. Use the addon domain function in cPanel to do that. It is called other things in other control panels.

Then change your NS at GD to point to the correct NS. Use a different proxy to check it and you should see an index page for the domain. When you do then you just wait for the ISPs along your route from home to clear the caches, 24-48 hours most places.

I have 5 domain on the same server and I have used the "Addon domain" function without any problem. As said before I have tried to change DNS to my hosting but it gives the same problem.

Now that I'm using Godaddy default DNS I have tried to write the domain name in different ways:
    www.domain2.net -> redirects to www.domain1.com :(
www.domain2.net (through proxy) -> show Godaddy default page
www.domain2.net/index.htm -> show Godaddy default page
domain2.net -> show Godaddy default page

It is strange that typing the domain in the right way the domain seems to be forwarded to the other domain

You might be doing this the hard way.

You have a hosting account and when you signed up with domain1 they gave you some nameserver information. You go to your GD account, select custom NS and enter ns1.what-ever-they-told-you. com and then do the same for NS2. BINGO.

Note: for private NS, the first time you do have to register them. As in ns1.private-ns.com points to IP #. After that you just use the private nameservers that you have registered.

You addon on a domain, you go to GD and you enter the exact NS info. BINGO

That is all there is to it. You don't mess around with any of the complex settings unless you want your domain to go one place, your mail another or some other custom feature that 99.9% of the people never use.
