Hi All, It wasn't a pleasant experience but i think it is a must to share with you people about the recent story between Adsense and I. I will make it short. It started about two weeks ago, I got a letter from Adsense informing me that they have disabled servering ads to my site. The reason was that I had published some "adult content". Of course I was shocked and tried to send them an appeal as many others did. Although I had pointed out it was a print ad which could be shown in public and it was featured on some big advertising sites which are also using Adsense. I immediately took down the related article but also tried my best to explain, I got no response for days. Afterward I managed to send emails directly to some staff who works in Adsense ( local office) and not robot. I got an reply finally after few days but they said they couldn't make a decision. Then I got a reply from Adsense team ( main office ) and it was a short message without addressing my name and proper email address which I could reply to. Adsense told me that I have another article with adult content which is "not appropriate for children" so ads will remain disabled. However, my article is a critic about a piece of artwork by a famous artist who recently arrested by the Chinese government. I was shocked again but this time I didn't take down my article. Instead I have chosen to talk with the big newspapers and all of them are very interested in the story including the local BBC stringer, and I do know why, and my friend also helped me to pass it to the editor at CNN. Then the next day I got an email from Adsense and told me the problem is solved, ads servering is enabled. I wonder who was the person to help me behind but thank you so much. But I become very timid now as an Adsense publisher, income is important but as well as the freedom of speech. I know that once I joined the "game" that I have to follow the rules, the censorship is necessary in some cases but is it reasonable? And I want to point out that many publishers has not much right to say and no proper way to explain or to communicate. Adsense and publishers are business partners and there should be solid ways of communication, like contactpersons with email addresses. It is not that difficult for Adsense to make a decision by pressing a button of approval or not. We can't stop people to complain but would it be misused by some people as a weapon? I do concern about this issue and it is important to improve the system for communication instead of talking with the mass media all the time. I understand that Adsense would got thousands of appeal letters a day but they should still remember every single case is individual and deserves to be handled seriously. Robots can't make a judgement about what is proper content or not, only a human being can do that. We should always remember that technology is to improve the relationship between people and not to destroy.
