Using some command in the search engine like site:yourdomain.com or link:yourdomain.com When you use this site:yourdomain.com all your pages links will appear that crawled by google. When you use this link:yourdomain.com all your backlinks or inlinks to other sites will appear in Yahoo but in Google only popular great backlink will be shown. And i think this is normal.
It should give you the same results when you go to the last indexed page. The only difference is when you use link(s):[space or not] your URL In your case: link:www.watchgasprice.com -> 6 backlinks link: www.watchgasprice.com -> it shows 1010 backlinks, but click to the last page and you will see it is only 54 backlinks. links:www.watchgasprice.com -> 0 backlink links: www.watchgasprice.com -> it shows 1150 backlinks, but click to the last page and you will see it is only 55 backlinks.
Use Yahoo Site Explorer for checking your backlinks. Yahoo is not 100% complete, but it is much more accurate then the small sampling that Google provides. BTW, Yahoo shows 233 backlinks for your site.
link:yoursite is correct at google for your important back links but if you use link:[space] yoursite then all the words including link also searches.
Hey Alan - If you're trying to get a comprehensive picture of the link's Google has for your site I'd say that you're best paying attention to what's been reported in Google Webmaster Tools. You might also find the SEOMoz Linkscape tool really interesting
