That has yet to be determined. Your best bet is to Submit & Forget, or Forget 2 Submit. Anything else can result in your site getting banned.
This is becoming a full time job for you to post "Submit & Forget, or Forget 2 Submit", I think this was post 500 with the same line. It sounds good, almost musical but is it really anyhelp to some one who wants to get in to DMOZ?
Naah, it's not. Best way is the standard suggestion form route. It isn't instant, but scriptlance is a very bad idea. It is a known fact that sites have been given "do not list" notes when owners tried to bribe editors. The scriptlance thing is likely a mixture of people trying to make it appear dmoz takes bribes (ie - same team on the request and the vendor sides), people trying to get competitor sites delisted by making it look like they're offering bribes, and people misled into thinking it works. If it ever really IS an editor they and the site will be gone pretty fast. Can't explain how that works... but hey, some people LIKE surprises anyway. Yeah, hard to imagine someone would waste time on a ruse to discredit a directory they aren't involved with, but there are thousands of posts on the net bearing witness that some spend an inordinate number of man hours grinding that same ax. Bottom line, submit the site, and if you have a desire to add a LOT more sites than just your own, submit an editor app. Either way, good luck.
If I've said it 500 times, its because I've answered the same question that many times. Would you rather I go on about paying over at scriptlance? Which you know is a potential hazard that runs the risk of getting the site banned. So really, the only true advice one can give is what I've said time & time & time again... I would tell people more often that they need to proof read their sites, make sure there is no duplicate content, and to make sure all the links work, but heh...people don't tend to bother with much things.
And everytime the answer has been as useless as the last times you posted for someone who wants to get listed. Don't you think people can understand themselves that they can forget about it or go to RZ and read the same thing? Do I approve of what is happening in scriptlance or poeple who buy listed domains? No and I wish ODP was an honest and real volunteer organization, so people didn't have to do it, but DMOZ is not and therefore people need REAL solutions even it it has risk and not a musical posts that sounds good.
"Unreliable" implies that it isn't performing its intended function. It set out to become the largest human edited directory, and it succeeded and grows every day. Granted, it is by no means perfect, but often the problem some have with it is that it isn't what they'd rather it be, an automatic site listing service. I guess if that would be the definition of *more* reliable... that's what somebody could start, but I think that describes any of the current paid inclusion directories already out there... and they don't get a lot of weight because any site can get in them. There isn't a perfect answer, but for your own benefit don't buy the idea the scriptlance route is merely "risky". "Risk" implies the possibility of success. Q tried to steer you clear of that, and he was correct.
Are you suggesting the "SEO" work by "senior" editors is better? It is permitted by ODP for editors to do that, right?
How do you think he made almost three time more post then me in half the time? You better start raising your edit I'm mean post count unless you want him to catch up to you.
Didn't suggest anything, just explained that Scriptlance is a dead end. As for any editors being SEOs... here's the policy: See http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/conflict.html
Thank you for confirming that after all the blah, blah (AKA Guideline), "SEO" work by "senior" editors is permitted.
Hey Gworld - Several of us are just trying to keep the guy from shooting himself in the foot via scriptlance. Adding the same old snarky allegations that make no contribution to his question isn't gonna help him at all. In case you've missed it, some would like to make this forum a working product. It isn't a partisan effort... I see obvious effort on both "sides". Maybe with a little time there won't be "sides" to be taken. Who knows. Anyway, please either contribute without the constant trolling or toddle off and play elsewhere. Thanks.
Lines have been drawn long time ago. On one side stands volunteers who want a working organization that is open and honest, welcomes any kind of scrutiny and try to establish procedures that stops the corruption in it's track and on the other side "senior" editors and their cronies who benefit from the lack of procedures and will do anything to keep the current corrupt system. I don't think there can ever be an "understanding" between the 2 sides since the changes requires the "senior" editors to give away their benefits which is against their nature.
But, hey, we rely on your superior knowledge as a self proclaimed editall, that's a senior editor, are you confessing all then. Or are you at your innuendo and lies again. If you are editall then you will tell us, if you are not you are a liar. Which one? If you are senior editor then you must be part of the corruption is that right, so you complain on here to try and disguise that. Seems to me you are either self confessed corrupt or liar.
Dear DP user ! I also want to submit my site at dmoz. My website name is www.yourowndir.com. Please guide us..
All you have to do is click on the "Suggest URL" link! However, your site will not be listed as it has no unique content.
I'll second this post. If a post can be seconded at all. It describes very well what I've learn about DMOZ editors in the last few months. Mostly by asking questions in Res...Zone.com and reading former editors' bolgs. For asking so many questions and pointing out unfair treatment of DMOZ users I got banned in that forum.
