    Hi all,

I have a problem in RSS. I have less knowledge about it. Please tell, Is the RSS is different for blog & different for website?

Just I know is this, we apply RSS to sites/blogs which are going to be updated in daily basis so that users/subcribers come to know about new posts and helpful for robots also. For my blogs I created RSS through FeedBurner and its working well.

But for static website also, should I use RSS? Whats the use of that? How should I create it, is there any tool or manually?

Are the XML Sitemaps and RSS for the static sites, the same thing? Whats the difference between them?

Please explain all this I am in big confusion .....

Should I apply XML Sitemap & RSS both on my website or XML Sitemap is sufficient? And how to create RSS for website if I have to apply...

RSS is mainly for readership, not for SEO. Thus, it is used mostly on updated contents. However, since SEs love updated contents SEs love RSS. So, it's just a side effect in my opinion.

You could use RSS for static text, but it's kindda redundant imo. Especially if your page is already indexed with no problem with SEs. If your site is heavily dynamic (although the content is static), it's a good move to have RSS to make sure SEs could spider it correctly. Other than that it's kindda redundant.

XML sitemap is a pointer to pages. RSS is "the content". They are absolutely different. That applies to both for static and dynamic websites.

IMO, XML sitemap is a must for me (static and dynamic). RSS is a must on dynamic and optional for static website. That is if you find SEs having difficulty in spidering your site.

There are some tools that claims that it will automatically generate the RSS of your static website. I've seen them here and there on Google or other forum, but I've never paid attention to them. I don't believe them.

I mean, the point of RSS is having a very "clean" content of your site, that is without site navigation and order button. After all if it includes site nav, etc doesn't that means the same as having an exact duplicate of your page? That's extremely redundant imo.

How could a software / script "knows" which is which between those zillions of sites out there? Since I think it's impossible, if I want to make RSS version of my static page, I'll go with manual ones.
