Problem getting my company name ranked no.1 in Google

    Hi,

I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on how to get one of my sites to the top of Google for it's company name...

...it is harder than you would think...here's the scenario:

    1. There is my company Pyramid Recruitment (no.3), and there is another called Pyramid Recruitment Services (they are no.1 with another listing related to there's at no.2)

    2. They have the domain www.pyramid-recruitment.com (5 years old), mine is www.pyramid-rec.com (2 years old) - so they have a keyword rich domain and it is older.

Point number 2 is why it is so hard - I don't have much time or money for it, but do have about 1 whole day to work on it each month; any suggestions on how my time would be best spent.

I have done some directory submissions with the anchor 'Pyramid Recruitment', have done some forum stuff (although that doesnt have that much power), have a BOTW submission and have optimised the websites as much as possible given the design constraints (take away CSS styling to see)

Any help would be appreciated - I get the impression it might be too much at this present time to conquer them.

    Best regards,

    Misch

Just give it some time - it would be your best promo tool

Sometimes it's very difficult to compete in Google ranking with a site that has the actual keywords in their domain name. It seems Google gives a lot of weight to the domain name.

Just copy exactly what they did, then do something better.

You're in the top3, that should be good enough. Is it worth all the time you will need to invest to move from 3rd to 1st for this search term?

I am having the same issue with keyword terms for my site. I already rank high, but for some reason cannot overtake the #1 position, no matter how hard I try. Many experts tell me that it is time. They tell me to continue to build links continuously and wait on time, I will eventually get the number #1 position. I think this is solid advice. I've been struggling to get #1 for about 2-3 months now and expect I'll be #1 any day now.
