I can buy a domainname from a friend. It's a Pr1, has 26 pages indexed in Google. What is it worth? The site: http://www.eventsandmeetings.nl
The PR1 and 26 pages is worth nothing by itself imo. If it has revenue or good traffic, then of course it adds value. If you like the domain name, then you have to decide what it is worth to you - but it isn't a premium domain name.
.nl WTH??? anyway IF i was interested in a domain like that, I would pay no more than 2/3 dollars. PR1 means it sucks pretty much, 26 pages is useless (you would probably use your own content anyway). and the .nl just kills it
Thx for the replies Well, it's a dutch site, written in dutch so it's pretty logical that it has a .nl i think. I don't get the events and meetings part though, would have gone for a .com with such a name. Now that i think of it, it might be a better solution to get a .com?
always go for a globally recognized extension if you can. It seems your site is a dutch niche and therefor could get away with it. Just know that there is a population of ~20 million in the netherlands, and 6/7 billion in the world. You are kind of limiting your traffic, but it is your choice
it doesnt matter for SEO, but i always go with a .com if i can. People remember .com better than .nets, I would think you would lose 1-2% percent of your traffic to the .com version simply becasue people cant remember .net as well. However i would alwyas get shortdomain.net over verysuperlonguselessdomain.com
