So I am a fairly new web designer and I am getting more into the webmaster role. So what are the major advantages of have sitemaps vs. not having them? I just put up my new site, ineedquarters.com, a micro-scholarship site.
Hi Jesse, If you are making a 'normal' HTML-based website you won't need a sitemap untill your visitors start getting confused. For a database-based website it helps to make a sitemap so you know google knows all the pages you have. That's not necessary for a HTML-website because google will know anyhow (if you get indexed - but that's more based on the amount of inlinks you have.)
No - I checked your site and you definitely don't need a sitemap. You need to find people who think your site is cool and will link to it. That's going to get you page rank. I do think you have design skill - or your designer does. So making money online does seem an option for you (or them). I'm not sure this particular attempt will work though.
lol thats my first whole web site design so thanks for the compliment, do you think people just wont donate, or think its a scam?
