Shibaa? Lebanesse? Even the anti-Israeli UN admits that there is no single map which shows that Shabaa farms were ever part of Lebanon. Read this for example, or look at this Lebanese army map from 1966, which shows it is not Lebanese. After 2000, Israel abided by all the requirements of the UN, withdrawing from the security zone back to the internationally accepted border. The UN certified that. The Hezbollah, however, needed an excuse to keep fighting Israel. So, surprise surprise, the first ever claim for Shabaa farms came in 2000. Not before. If the Syrians and Lebanese would have agreed upon a border between them, and the Syrians would have officially transfered Shabaa to the Lebanese in writing, then the story would have been different. But as a matter of fact, Syria would never officially agree on a border with Lebanon because it still sees Lebanon as part of greater Syria! So the Lebanese' problem is with Syria not Israel. As for the "prisoners", they want Samir Kuntar. He killed in 1979 two civilians in an across the border terrorist attack. One of the civilians was a 4 year old girl. Israel is too merciful. In the US he would have received the chair. Israel never agreed to release this scum, so no one lied. As for the 2000 withdrawal, apparently it was a mistake. The only good thing about it is that it proved the real intentions of the Hezbollah, and the fact that even if Israel does everything asked for by the hypocritical international community, it doesn't help, instead, it exposes Israeli civilians to the barbaric Hezbollah. After sitting quiet for 6 years, Israel gave its second cheek once too many, and now has the full right to defend its civilians. I'm really sorry for innocent civilians dying (and all Israelis are sorry for Lebanese civilians dying, just the opposite of the Hezbollah who tries its best to kill israeli civilians and totally doesn't care about Lebanese civilians - otherwise it wouldn't hide behind women and children as it does. They are a bunch of cowards!), but Israel has its legitimate right to defend itself and get rid of the Hezbollah. If Lebanon couldn't get rid of this stinking garbage itself, Israel has no choice but to do it. There is no other choice. We tried doing nothing but still Katyusha's fell, soldiers were kidnapped etc. If you want to know why appeasing the Hezbollah didn't work, the answer is Iran. Hezbollah are puppets of Iran (and syria), which wants to pressure Israel because of various interests (and of course to wipe it off the map as Ahmedinigad said a few days ago). Do you think it is a coincidence that the 2 israeli soldiers were kidnapped just before the G8 summit which was about to discuss the Iranian nuclear program?? This means that appeasing the Hezbollah would never help unless the Iranian problem is solved or the ties between the Hezbollah and Iran severed. Sometimes appeasement does not work and no escape from some dirty work. Ask Chamberlain or Barak (the latter withdrew from Lebanon, and I hope you know what the former did).
Correct me if am wrong lol ... Shibaa is lebanese ... my parents are from shibaa and I belong to shibaa ... Un and israel says its syrian while syria says shibaa is lebanese land
You are Wrong....LOL. If shebaa is lebanonese, then whole lebanon belongs to Syria. Only hezbs claim it being Lebanonee, it belongs to syria (officialy).
If Lebanon has any claims which are counter to internationally recognized borders let it officially file a complaint (e.g., with the UN) and have it negotiated around a table. I am sure Israel would be happy to transfer it to Lebanon under a comprehensive peace agreement. Syrians have never officially claimed that Shabaa is Lebanese. There may have been a few oral statements but they count for nothing. The Syrians do so on purpose so that the Hezbollah will have a lame excuse to keep on fighting Israel. The fact that Shabaa was never officially a part of Lebanon is just part of the mess that the French (and British) left when the area was partitioned during the mandates period. It is possible to undo this mess but it should be done under negotiations, not at gun point as the Hezbollah is doing. Israel under no circumstances will give a reward to the Hezbollah who harass Israeli citizens across the Northern border. In any case, I don't understand why a country like Lebanon, which wishes to be sovereign, lets the Iran and Syria guided Hezbollah control the country. As a Lebanese, don't you find it annoying that it wasn't your government that declared war on Israel by crossing Israel's casus belli? It is excellent that you got rid of the Syrians, now you have to get rid of the Hezbollah. Believe me, when the Hezbollah would be put on a leash (either by Lebanon or by an international force) Israel will instantly leave. No Israeli wants to stay in lebanon a second longer than necessary.
Some reading material: http://www.science.co.il/Arab-Israeli-conflict/Articles/AIPAC-2002-05-20.asp There is much more. Just Google UN Anti Israel. Just an example. How come there is no single UN resolution condemning Palestinian terrorist activity, only resolutions condemning Israel? Surely, some condemnation for killing more than a 1000 civilians in suicide bomgings and other terrorist activity since the Oslo agreements would have been a reasonable thing to do, isn't? Clearly, the UN is very one sided.
UN isn't really important the proof nobody listens to it 1000 killed by suicide attacks but 100 000 killed by israeli offencives
How is it to live your life in complete lie? And did you go to the bathroom when god "bring" brain to the people?
Dont make things up, noone gonna buy this..(With even an IQ of moose) and you are earning by disrespect by supporting terrorism, Not that you really care about it. PS: I see Pro Isreali votes are catching up, few days back the difference was more than 10.. good sign.
i guess we were both wrong palestinian casualties (not taking in consideration houses destroyed) Total Deaths = 3,774 Total Injuries = 29,368 israeli casualties 45 in 2005 75 in 2004
I thought another option should be included. "Pro 1559" Because maybe if it was enforced, we wouldn't even need this poll. tom
If it wasnt you I would have dug to get *real* figures of death and casualties. But since Its you, I dont see it worths my time....
it's not my conflict and i have nothing to do with any of this... but when numbers speak the israeli propagandist choose to stop arguing
Dont feel so happy. I am not arguing because its worthless to argue with some Islamic propagandist, not because I dont have *real* figures..
And when you are stop arguing? when you are realized that you arguing with a stuipd man (or a donkey) that will never see what you are trying to explain. So you stop arguing because it's a waste of energy ...
hey hey we are on this forum to have a civilised discussion i do not accept that you israeli fanatics call me donkey and bad names and do not accept either that you consider me or lebanese or palestinian or what so ever if you think that they are alone defending their cause you are dead wrong open your tv and you'll see how much westerns like me are going on pro lebanese and anti war demonstrations ....
Western, perhaps, by location, but where's your heart? Do you go to demonstrations like these? http://www.solomonia.com/blog/archives/008897.shtml http://www.judeoscope.ca/article.php3?id_article=0434
I agree with Tommy D, also.....I am pro both! I am anti terrorists. I find it amazing that in much of the world opinion nobody makes light of the fact that hezbollah's very existence is to commit war crimes.
