    Hi everybody,

I want to create a search option on my website.
The site doesn't realy need one but i like to have te option for people who like to search on my site using een engine.

Is a "Google custom search" button pro enough for a quality website?
Doesn't it look a bit unprofessional?

    Kind regards,
    Mxl

As a quick fix I have added Google search to sites before, it's easy to do but you can definitely tell that it's a Google search.
If you want something that will look more like it's part of your site, you might have to go with a search script like sphider. This involves a lot more work (setting up admin sections and SERP's, etc).

If you have a pro website, will a Google custom search do harm to it's profession?
That's what i'm trying to figure out.

I think it depends on the website. If it's a web design or development website, I think it will look less professional and take away some of your credibility. For an eCommerce site, it might get customers to go back to Google and find your competitors.
It's hard to say without knowing what the website is that you are asking about.

It will not harm your business but there are much better options depending on the software you are using.
