I'm running a sort of contest / promotion on my freelance writing blog until the end of this month. The contest is simple - the top commenter (with valid comments) will win over $100 worth of prizes (Amazon gift card, books, e-books for writers, etc.). If you're a writer and interested, view the details and prize list here. If you have a book, e-book, or product targeting freelance writers, and you'd like to contribute it towards this prize package or a future one, email me at jenn(at)allfreelancewriting(dot)com. I'm considering making this a monthly thing (although much smaller scale - maybe giving away a different book each month and doing these bigger prize packages each December for the holidays). From a writer perspective, would something like that be an incentive to participate in a blog like this, or not? Also in an effort to drum up some discussions over there, what would you say are your "hot button topics" as a freelance writer? What do you want to talk about, debate, etc. with other writers? Is there something not being covered, that you'd like to see discussed? Thanks! Jenn
Just wanted to say, Jen, your blog and forum are great. I haven't really contributed to the forum yet, but I will now You have such great information that helps so much with those of us who have less time in the field. I just wanted to say thanks
Glad you like them. Just remember, the contest is for blog comments, and not forum posts. I'll be sure to clarify that in the post... didn't even think of that before.
Is there a way we can see who is leading the competition? (Like a top commentators plugin) I like knowing where I stand
Do you know of one that would let me post them only for the current month? If they're cumulative top commenters, it won't work. If not, I can add them up manually every few days as an update.
Sure. Just send me the details of how you want to go about it, and any sites that you'd like mentioned in a sponsor post on the blog.
We've got a nice prize list set up now for the top commenter (and the second and third commenters will each receive a book as well). Since I didn't mention the prize list here directly before, and since Ajeet so graciously just added to it, here's the official list: $25 Amazon Gift Card $25 cash through Paypal (eligible only to participants with a Paypal account - if the top commenter doesn't have one, it would go to the next highest commenter) The winner’s choice of one of the following books on freelance writing: The Wealthy Writer by Michael Meanwell Guerrilla Marketing for Writers by Jay Conrad Levinson, Rick Frishman, and Michael Larsen The Renegade Writer by Linda Formichelli Your choice of a print copy of one of the following Writer’s Market titles: Writer’s Market 2008 Novel and Short Story Writer’s Market 2008 Children’s Writer’s & Illustrator’s Market 2008 A copy of David Drake's e-book: The Six Figure Freelancer A copy of Dee Power and Brian Hill's e-book: The Publishing Primer: A Blueprint for an Author's Success A copy of Jessica Mousseau's e-book: Who Wants to Become a Successful Freelance Writer?
