Rules Private Message Limit/Rules?

    Hello

    I am trying to send someone a private message and I get the following error message:

    I just signed up last night and saw that I didn't have permission to start a thread in the links for sale area. So, I sent a private message last night to someone with a url and it worked fine. I then sent another pm without a url to someone this morning and it worked fine.

    I am attempting to send my second PM today and third total and got the error message. Am I bumping up against a rule or limit of some kind?

    We have flood control in regard to private messages sent by new members. This cuts back on PM spamming.

    Based on what you've written here and what has transpired, it would appear that you can sent 2 PM's in a 24 hour period. I would attempt to send another PM 24 hours after you sent the last one out.
    Take heart as soon you will have unlimited (within reason) messaging privileges.

    Thank you guys for helping me to better understand the process here. I appreciate the prompt replies and the additional feedback provided via IM by some of the other posters here.

    FWIW, I was just able to initiate/create a new PM (my third total). I suspect that you are right, SpoiltDiva in that the PM permissions are connected to forum posts. I am sure there are a lot of bots that are registered and start PMing tons of other members without ever even attempting to make a post.
