Private domain registration? ANY downsides?

I am wanting to make a site, and I want to do it private...simply because of the spam, but its not a huge deal.

Will there be ANY negative things about registering it private? Could it hurt my PR, etc...? Should I just do a normal registration and be done with it?

I havent registered a domain in ages...

It might hurt your site in the eyes of Google.

Most spammers use private domain registrations, so you might look like a spammer to Google/Yahoo/MSN/etc...

Just my personal opinion : Private registration = "I have something to hide" = "Do not trust me".

What individual wants to go posting their personal contact details for any scammer to use in identity theft? Personally, I'd rather protect my privacy. It's individual choice, though. If people are comfortable with their personal details being accessible to anyone, fine, but just because someone doesn't want that it doesn't mean they have something to hide.
